The event benefit and auction held on October 18th, 2008 was a huge success. Tim has been slowly recovering from his heart attack with physical therapy and has been doing very well considering everything he has been through. He has, however, been admitted to the hospital twice since his surgery do to issues relating to his heart attack and the surgery. We continue to hope and pray for his continued progress to being healthy once again.
Tim Bechtel Benefit and Auction
The coming together of communities is never so evident as it is in times of need by an individual or group in our small rural communities. A benefit auction for a person in need of assistance in our midwest towns is just one of the many ways we pull together to help those around us.
Such is the case with the Benefit and Auction, being held at The Moose Lodge in Storm Lake, Iowa on October, 18th, for Timothy Bechtel (Tim), age 39. On August 30th Tim suffered a major heart attack and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota where he underwent open heart surgery to repair the damage that was done to his heart.
Tim, who is an owner operator from Alta, Iowa was unfortunately unable to afford health insurance at the time due to high fuel prices. He will be off work for an unspecified amount of time while he continues to undergo physical therapy to help him get strong enough to return to his truck so he can deliver supplies all around the midwest.
Tim's sister, Jodi Thevenot, along with Jim Weiland and other family members have headed up the drive to do a benefit and auction to help Tim pay his medical expenses and other bills during his recovery from this horrific heart attack. In doing so, they have learned just how giving our great little communities can be. Many kind business owners and individuals have come together in providing a large number of items for the auction along with monitary donations to assist Jodi and the others with efforts in making this a success.
